Special shapes
Specials from stock, not made to order
The details that give a build its finish — plinths, bullnose, squints and cants — held on the yard rather than quoted at twelve weeks from the factory.
The bricks that finish a job properly
Specials are usually where a build gets held up. They're ordered late, they come from a different factory to the main brick, and the lead time lands right when the bricklayers are ready for them. We hold a comprehensive range on site, so in most cases the specials go out on the same lorry as the rest of your order.
Plinth stretchers & headers
The angled brick that steps a wall back neatly above the footing or below a string course. Standard on period frontages and anything trying to look like one.
Plinth courses, string courses, chimney breasts
Bullnose bricks
A rounded edge instead of a sharp arris — single or double bullnose depending on how many faces show. Softer, safer and far more forgiving on exposed corners.
Cills, copings, steps, door and window reveals
Squints
Angled bricks for corners that aren't a tidy 90 degrees. Usually 30° or 45°, and the difference between a proper splayed corner and an awkward cut-and-fill.
Splayed corners, bay windows, angled boundary walls
Cants & radials
Angled and curved bricks for anything that isn't straight — curved garden walls, rounded bays, arched heads over openings.
Curved walls, bays, arches, feature brickwork
Cut & shaped to order
Where a standard special doesn't exist, we'll cut and shape to suit. Send the detail or the drawing and we'll work out what's actually needed.
Restoration, listed work, one-off details
Engineering & DPC bricks
Class A and B engineering bricks for below-DPC work, manholes, retaining walls and anywhere strength and low water absorption matter more than looks.
Foundations, retaining walls, drainage, hard landscaping

Matching specials to your main brick
A special is only useful if it matches the brick beside it. Where a manufacturer makes specials in the same clay as your facing brick, we'll supply those. Where they don't — which is common on older or discontinued bricks — we'll cut and shape from the facing brick itself so the colour and texture carry through.
Send us the drawing, the schedule or just a photo of the detail. Whatever the specification, our team will work out what you actually need — and tell you if you've been specified something that doesn't exist.

Tell us the shape you need
Include the main brick if you know it and roughly how many specials you're after. We'll come back with what we hold and what we'd need to cut.
